Service to the Community
CLtel continues to reinvest in its community and people, as we work together toward a vibrant future, in this special place we call home. That's why we have reinvested in the community in many ways: spending millions of dollars to provide an advanced telecommunications infrastructure to attract new business and industry and investing dollars, personal time and leadership in community projects, events, and human services.
Some of the recent community projects include: our managers, Tom and Jan Lovell, co-chaired the recent Clear Lake Public Library capital campaign to raise over $1.5 million to expand and renovate the library; CL Tel provides free high speed Internet service to the libraries in Clear Lake and Ventura, Clear Lake Arts Center, Opportunity Village Store and an educational rate for a wide area network for our schools. CL Tel was a major contributor to the Opportunity Village capital campaign; donated $20,000 to Clear Lake Schools during our 100th anniversary celebration and held a community-wide picnic; contributes to the Clear Lake Economic Development Corporation; provided leadership and volunteer time for the Clear Creek Elementary School bond issue; provide free cable TV to Clear Lake schools; created a community channel to promote community events; contributed to Central Gardens project; provide office space for the CLEAR project and contribute to lake water quality projects; paid for new playground equipment at Sunset and Lincoln Elementary Schools.
At the regional level, CLtel was a major contributor to the Hospice capital campaign; Francis Lauer Youth Shelter capital campaign; North Iowa Mercy Medical Center capital campaign and CLtel received a Grand Champion award from the United Way of Cerro Gordo County this year because of employee and corporate contributions.
CLtel annually sponsors Christmas by the Lake, Earth Day and the Fourth of July events and regularly contributes to numerous community organizations ranging from the Booster Club and Parent Communication Network to churches and clubs. V Tel has contributed to the new community sign and streetlights, Ventura Library capital campaign, to the schools, playground and the community building. V Tel provides high speed Internet access to the library and the schools and is an annual contributor to the Booster Club and numerous Septemberfest activities.
Contributions are made by CL Tel and V Tel to non-profit organizations and events which are of community-wide interest and open to the public.
CL Tel also is part of the Iowa Network Services charity grant program. Grants are awarded on a statewide and quarterly basis. Most awards range from $250 to $1,500. Please direct any inquiries to the CL Tel Business office at 357-2111.
